Florida OIR requires American Mobile Insurance Exchange to surrender its certificate of authority
The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation announced on October 19, 2026 that it is requiring American Mobile Insurance Exchange to surrender its certificate of authority after completing administrative supervision. Per OIR, the company received its certificate in 2020 to write only mobile home business, exclusively in Florida; in March 2024 it submitted a withdrawal plan that included transferring approximately 8,000 policies to another company, and cancelled more than 1,100 policies effective May 31, 2024; and its policyholder surplus had fallen to $15.09 million from $20.98 million, against a $15 million minimum for residential property writers. OIR placed the company in public administrative supervision by consent order filed April 15, 2024, extended seven times (the seventh consent order, Case No. 403152-26-CO, was filed August 3, 2026). OIR states it determined the company was in unsound financial condition and that other states declined to allow it to redomesticate.
