Lighthouse Property Insurance ordered into liquidation
Louisiana Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon placed Lighthouse Property Insurance Corporation into receivership in the 19th Judicial District Court on April 5, 2022; the Louisiana Department of Insurance reported about 30,000 policies and 16,000 Ida-related claims. On April 28, 2022 the court entered an Order of Liquidation with a Finding of Insolvency and appointed the Commissioner as Liquidator. The order cancels policies issued in Texas, Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina on the earlier of 30 days after entry (May 28, 2022), the policy’s expiration, or replacement, and authorizes the Liquidator to coordinate with the guaranty associations of those four states and Louisiana.
